In addition to presenting world-class performances, the Miyazaki International Music Festival will hold various educational activities to share the wonders of music with the rising generation of young musicians.


Friday, 4th May (National Holiday) to Sunday, 13th May

Training Courses (Chamber music, violin, clarinet)

In these courses instruction will be given to the next generation of young musicians from around the Asian region by world-class performers and music teachers. In addition to a chamber music course there will be courses for the violin and clarinet.

Chamber Music Lessons by Isaac Stern

These lessons will be given by Isaac Stern, the world-famous violinist. As these lessons will be open to the public we invite you to witness this master at work and his passion for chamber music.

Public Violin Lesson by Pinchas Zukerman

This lesson will be given by Pinchas Zukerman, a violinist of international standing. Called a modern-day master of the violin, he is sure to convey the magic of the instrument through his teaching.

Public Clarinet Lesson by Karl Leister

This lesson, also open to the public, is by Karl Leister, the world-renowned clarinettist who spent more than 30 years as principal clarinettist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Please come along to witness the creation of music of the highest level.

Concert for Children

This concert is being held for elementary school pupils from within Miyazaki Prefecture following a request to give them the opportunity to listen to the finest music at an impressionable time in their lives.

Audience: 1,800 elementary school pupils from Miyazaki Prefecture
